Terms of service

1. What is licensed

LnkStart is proprietary, closed-source software distributed as a single binary for two roles: a server, which you run on your own VPS, and an agent, which you run on the machines whose local services you want to publish through your server. Using either binary requires a license key, issued after a free registration.

2. Business or integrator use

LnkStart is free with registration for any use on your own infrastructure, commercial use included: operating it on behalf of a company, or installing it at a client's premises as an integrator, does not require a paid license. See the pricing section.

3. License renewal and what happens if it lapses

A license is valid for three months and renews automatically by sending the telemetry described in the privacy policy. If auto_renew is disabled, or the renewal request fails, the server keeps running and keeps serving traffic: an expired or unreachable license never cuts traffic, it only stops the server from receiving updates. This is a deliberate product guarantee, not a best-effort promise.

4. What you may not do

You may not redistribute the binary, decompile it, reverse engineer it, or analyze its internals, except where mandatorily permitted by law. You may not use the software to violate the law or third-party rights, or to overload or attack infrastructure that is not your own.

5. No liability for traffic you route

You decide what local service your server publishes and under which domain. We have no technical means to see that traffic — it never transits our infrastructure — and assume no liability for what you choose to publish.

6. Availability of the license service

We make reasonable efforts to keep license issuance and renewal available, but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. As stated in §3, an outage there never disables an already-running server.

7. Changes to these terms

These terms may change to reflect changes to the product or applicable law. The version in force is always the one published here, with its revision date shown above. Material changes affecting your license will be communicated by email before taking effect.

8. Your web account

The account on this website is free and exists to show you the servers registered with your email address and to hand you your license keys. You are responsible for keeping access to the email address it uses: whoever can read that inbox can sign in.

You can delete the account whenever you want, from your account page. Deleting it does not stop any server and does not expire any license: your installations keep working exactly as before. We may suspend an account that is used to attack the service, but never as a way to switch off software already installed.

9. Governing law and jurisdiction

This relationship is governed by Spanish law. For any dispute, the parties submit to the competent courts under applicable law, without prejudice to the statutory protections a consumer may have under the laws of their country of residence.
